Andrew Shaw: From the editor of MCV

There did seem to be a queer presence in the pre-eviction Occupy Melbourne tent village in City Square. Two rainbow banners fluttered from tent ropes, and a rainbow flag was carried in a post-eviction rally.

Dolly Diamond: 666 - The number of the party beast

Categories // Viewpoint

It's party time again with the people behind 666. It's billed as, "A glamorous gay dance party for the devilish soul". I thought that described every dance party until I went to their last one and found out they really do go that extra mile to make sure you leave having had an exotic and erotic night out.

Nicky Bryson: A girl's eye view on news, current affairs & culture

Huh? Random Thoughts

Written by // Mel Feisty Fitzpatrick Categories // Viewpoint

I've decided in my old age that there's not many things that I'm really good at. I think I might be reasonably good at DJing (it generally seems to go quite well when I play tunes), and I'm a competent driver and fairly responsible dog owner. I hope the driving and dogs will always be part of my life, but the DJing ... well I'm not so sure.

Rachel Cook: And they said it would never last

Written by // Rachel Cook Categories // Viewpoint

And they said it wouldn’t last! A few years ago, when I took over as CHERRIE editor, an acquaintance said, “Good luck, but I give you six months, there’s just no room for another lesbian magazine.” Well, 50 issues later it appears there is, and of course there’s more than enough room.

Andrew Shaw: Driving us crazy

In a world where Catholic Church doctrine still states that homosexuality is "intrinsically disordered" you have to wonder how science made up its mind – by science I mean the science of the mind – that being gay wasn't a mental disorder at all.
