Vic Opposition Leader pressures PM on gay marriage

The leader of the Victorian Opposition is continuing his call on the Prime Minister to change the laws regarding same-sex marriage.

Speaking to The Australian newspaper last week Daniel Andrews urged the Gillard government to keep with the times and create a level playing field for same-sex couples.

“We need some certainty with this,” Andrews said.

“I think there is growing community support for us to make this change. That’s my view.”

Prior to the Equal Love rally in Melbourne earlier last week Andrews appeared in advertisements in MCV supporting marriage equality.

The advertisements used the hallowed “It’s Time” slogan from the Whitlam era federal election campaign, proclaiming “It’s time for all loving relationships to be given the same recognition.”

ALP state parliament members Martin Foley, Jane Garrett, Jennifer Kanis and Richard Wynne also lent their names to the advertisement.

Regarding the continued push for marriage equality by Victorian Labor Andrews told MCV: “I think it’s time for the Federal Marriage Act to be changed so that loving couples regardless of gender can have the equality and dignity they deserve.”

In Victoria, Daniel Andrew's Labor never allowed the GLBTI community to adopt. So although I welcome Daniel's call for Marriage Equality, I would like to see Victorian Labor start to be committed to all of equality. We can foster, but cannot adopt? It is called inequality, not equality Mr Andrews.

How can I apply for Asylum in Victoria or NSW? Queensland has become a hell-hole of Bible Blackness.

Peter, there's "Bible Blackness" down here too, at least as far as my campaign for council for nude rights goes. So far, I've been arrested, detained by police on another occassion and thrown out of a cafe, and there's another three weeks to go!
