Academy Award-nominated actress Jacki Weaver will be the guest speaker at the annual Pride in Diversity Business Luncheon and Awards to be held next week in Sydney to commemorate Australia’s most diverse and LGBT-friendly workplaces.

Weaver will be joined by the patron of Pride In Diversity, former High Court judge Michael Kirby, at the awards luncheon to take place at the Ivy Ballroom on Thursday, May 17 as part of IDAHO celebrations.

A raft of business and community leaders will be in attendance at the event, with awards determined by Pride In Diversity’s Australian Workplace Equality Index which evaluates and benchmarks LGBT inclusiveness in Australian workplaces.

Pride In Diversity director Dawn Hough said she was delighted to have the support of the Australian screen legend.

“Jacki Weaver is a high profile, successful and well respected Australian and a great supporter of the LGBT community and having her endorse the work of Pride In Diversity in this way is a great outcome for the program specifically and for the LGBT community generally,” she said.

The work of Pride In Diversity had grown considerably over the last 12 months, with recent new members including the likes of ANZ, Westpac, Railcorp and the Victorian Department of Transport, Hough added.

“I encourage employers and employees from the business and industry sectors to attend the awards, enjoy a delicious three course lunch, be entertained and inspired by our speakers, and find out how they can help make everyone in their organisation feel valued and supported.”

IBM took out the number one spot in last year’s Top Ten list which also included the Australian Federal Police, KPMG, Goldman Sachs, Telstra, Accenture, PriceWaterhouseCoopers and Queensland, Western Australia, Macquarie and Curtin universities.

The Pride In Diversity Business Luncheon and Awards are on 12.30pm, Thursday, May 17 at the Ivy Ballroom, Sydney. Tickets cost $165pp or $2200 for table of 10. To book or more information, visit www.prideindiversity.com.au or call (02) 9206 2136
