The Brisbane Pride Festival Committee has announced that the 2011 Brisbane Pride festival was a  financial success

The Brisbane Pride Festival Committee is proud to announce that the 2011 Brisbane Pride festival was a well attended, community enhancing, financial success.

It is with enormous gratitude that we wish to thank everyone who held events, volunteered, and attended Brisbane Pride Festival events in 2011.

This year Pride Rally, Pride March, and the hugely successful Queens Ball had new venues, new formats, and a renewed sense of pride in our community. They also helped get some money back in the bank.

Aschleigh Perring, the newly appointed treasurer of Brisbane Pride Festival, is happy to announce the festival is no longer ‘in the red’.

"At the commencement of 2009-2010, Brisbane Pride Festival Incorporated posted a loss of $15,000, which almost crippled the festival.  The dedication of the caretaker committee and a successful 2011 festival allowed the newly elected committee to finalise all debts and close with a balance just over $10,000."

Festival President Deeje Hanckock says he's very pleased with the state of the balance sheet.

"It's been a great result, but of course the hard work of raising funds and expanding the festival continues in order to see the return of a Pride Festival managed Fair Day in 2012. We know that Perry Park is a great venue for Fair Day and we plan to follow on from this year's success and keep the event at the same venue next year.”
